Leland Blue with sterling silver hardware
FIts "Pandora" style charm bracelets or can be worn on a necklace
Approximately 1.25 inch long and 1/4 inch wide.
Leland blue is a glass-like byproduct of the iron industry in Northern Michigan. Well over 100 years ago this byproduct, called slag, was discarded in Lake Michigan. It has been washing up on shore ever since, especially near its namesake town of Leland, MI. Jewelers and rockhounds have been collecting and using this "stone" for years. It is a bit of Michigan history and there is a limited supply.
There is a lot of variety to Leland blue so yours may not look exactly like these photographs, but it will be similar. My beads range from light blue to grayish to greenish blue to almost turquoise. They often have white, gray or black inclusions in them. I take care that the beads used in each charm complement each other. I have included photographs of several charms to show some of the possible variety.
Only ONE charm with 4 beads is included in this listing. I have shown more than one in the photographs to display the variety of colors of my Leland blue beads.
NOTE - Because this charm can be used for either bracelets or necklaces, it is NOT sold with a chain. Please see my chain section to select a necklace or a bracelet for it if you need one. The photos including a chain and a bracelet are simply there to show how wonderful it looks.
