This Petoskey stone necklace is a lovely reminder of days spent along Michigan's beautiful beaches. I surrounded this stone with a handmade sterling silver setting featuring a hammered birch bark design. The back has a cut-out of Michigan's lower peninsula.
Petoskey stones are a fossilized coral most often found in Lake Michigan. The vast majority are found in the Little Traverse Bay region of Lake Michigan near the towns of Petoskey and Harbor Springs, Michigan. It is Michigan's state fossil.
This stone was collected, cut, and polished in Northern Michigan by a local craftsmen.
I designed, hand-cut and textured this sterling silver setting in my Northern Michigan workshop.
This pendant is about 1 inch in diameter. The Petoskey stone is just under 3/4's of an inch across.
Please choose a chain length for your pendant. I have included a reference photograph. If in doubt, 18 inches is a very popular length.
Each piece that leaves my workshop is marked on the back with "IE" so you know it is an IndigoEdenArts original and ".925" which certifies that it is made of sterling silver.
Enjoy!
