Three lovely beads of Leland Blue dangle from each of these sterling silver earwires.

Approximately 1.5 inches from top of earwire, beaded part is about 0.5 inches long.

Leland blue is a glass-like byproduct of the iron industry in Northern Michigan.  Well over 100 years ago this byproduct, called slag, was discarded in Lake Michigan.  It has been washing up on shore ever since, especially near its namesake town of Leland, MI.  Jewelers and rockhounds have been collecting and using this "stone" for years.  It is a bit of Michigan history and there is a limited supply.

There is a lot of variety to Leland blue so yours may not look exactly like these photographs, but it will be similar.  My beads range from light blue to grayish to greenish blue to almost turquoise.  They often have white, gray or black inclusions in them.  I take care that the beads used in each pair of earrings complement each other.

Only ONE pair of earrings is included in this listing.  I have shown more than one in the photographs to display the variety of colors of my Leland blue beads.

I send everything to you gift boxed, whether it is a gift for yourself or a loved one.

Enjoy!
